Tours - Half Day Packages

Township Tours

For guests who want to find out what really makes Cape Town and it environs tick, we offer the following one-day and half-day walking tours. Each of which will be conducted with a highly experienced guide that lives in the area:

We offer you three tours namely:

Tour of the Bokaap "Malay Quarter"

This is a two hour tour through the history and scenery of the Bokaap. You will learn about its founding, varied history, and many stories associated with the heritage site, starting at the Bokaap museum and walking around the area. You will have a chance to meet the locals, and take photographs of the kaleidoscope of colours that form the front of the houses. You will also visit a local shop and taste some of the local snacks produced by the Muslims.
We will collect you from your hotel and return you after the tour. However you may want to visit Table Mountain as well and this can be arranged as an optional extra.

We also offer a similar tour of the once vibrant District Six together with its museum.

Half Day Tour of the City Centre

Featuring the Good Hope Castle, learning its long and checkered history, and how it affected the development of Cape Town, its previous inhabitants, ghostly or otherwise, as well as taking in information about historic weapons and the battles between the Boers and the British in and around the Western Cape. If we arrive before 10 am during the week we may witness the Castle’s changing of the guard.
From the Castle we go to the Slave Lodge which is the museum concerned with the story of slavery in the Western Cape. The museum is housed in the original slave lodge which has been painstakingly restored. Included is a 20 minute multimedia experience about slavery in the Western Cape.

From the slave lodge a few steps take us to the Company Garden and part of the original gardens established to provide vitals to the sailors of the Dutch East Indian Company. Walking through the well kept gardens, you will be shown the important buildings which now border the gardens, and visit the SA Museum. A welcome cup of tea can be enjoyed in the gardens.

Half Day Township Tour

Experience the diverse culture that the township has to offer. The tours last approximately four hours and can be undertaken in the morning, afternoon, or evening. The evening tours could go on until midnight, depending on your time and interest.
