5-Day Richtersveld Safari
Itinerary
Day 1
- 9h00 Meet at Naries Namakwa Retreat 27 kms out side Springbok on the R355. Your car can safely be parked there. Website for the hotel is www.naries.co.za if you wish to stay overnight.
- Drive to Sendelingsdrif via Port Nollith and Alexander bay. Visit the Poet Nolloth museum and a diamond mine tour in Alexander Bay.
- Evening meal at Sendelingsdrif chalets.
Day 2
- Breakfast at Sendlingsbrif
- Sendlingsdrif to Tatasberg via De Hoop
- Keep your eyes open for the iconic Elephants Trunk Tree, visit The Hand of God. Stop on the Koeroegab Plains walk in the veldt and experience the solitude
- Take photographs at The Maerpoort viewpoint. Swim in the river at Tatasberg or walk in the veldt next to the chalets
- Dinner cooked at the chalets
Day 3
- After breakfast drive a circular route through the Springbokvlate
- View the rock formations such as The Toe and The Chicken Bones
- Return for dinner at the chalets
Day 4
- Breakfast at Tatasberg
- Drive through the centre of the park back to overnight at Sendelingsdrif
- Dinner at Sendlingsdrif chalets
Day 5
- After breakfast we visit Kuboes, Lekkersing and Eksteenfontein
- At Lekkersing we will visit Lekkersing Stone Mine: Historical quartzite mine, where extraordinary dendrite formations are sometimes visible on natural slates.
- At Eksteenfontein take a donkey cart along the route from town to Rooiberg (the Red Mountain) to see the extraordinary plants and quartzites. Rooiberg: The Red Mountain offers the purest air, the clearest skies, and abundant Halfmens and Baster Quiver Trees.
- Arrive at Naries in time for dinner if you are staying there and collect your car. Say Goodbye to the Richtersveld.
