Hout Bay Jaunt
There is plenty to see and do in a half day trip to Hout Bay starting with a scenic drive from Cape Town to the fishing boat and yacht harbour where we can catch a boat ride to Duiker Island to see the seals. The busy harbour itself has lots to see and do and a walk around it can be very rewarding. The old West Fort sits at the sea entrance to the harbour.
Hout Bay boasts the smallest pub in South Africa in the Workshop and the village museum displays many interesting exhibits of the history of Hout Bay. There is a choice of a visit to the renowned World of Birds or a Township Tour. Then on to East Fort where the remains of the old manganese mine can be seen before we start to climb Chapman’s Peak Drive (described as the most beautiful drive in the world) and which was built between 1917 - 1922 between the granite base and the start of the Table Mountain sandstone.
