Wild Flower Photographic Trail (in season August - September) - 3 Days
As a professional photographer and nature lover, I will help you take even better wild flower photographs.
Itinerary
- From Cape Town we drive up the west coast on the N7 to a little town called Kamiskroon. We will stay 2 nights at the hotel if possible. If not we will go to Springbok.
- We can discover the bountiful flowers in Skilpad (meaning “tortoise”) flower reserve. We will also drive past numerous small farms ablaze with flowers to Leliefontain (founded as Leliefontain Mission in 1816 by the Reverend Barnabas Shaw). Close by is the old Nama settlement of Ouss (meaning “fountain”) and Nouriveir.
- We will return via the West Coast arriving back late afternoon.
As an alternative we can visit the Biedouw Valley - depending on the quality of the flowers and the weather. Not only will you have an opportunity to photograph flowers but there are amazing landscapes, windmills, old farm ruins and more to photograph.
- We drive to Kamiskroon, book into Kamiskroon Hotel and visit the Skilpad flower reserve. In the evening we can gather around the fire in the lounge and see what we have managed to photograph.
- On day 2, we will drive to Lelifontain village, past numerous farms whose fields are carpeted with flowers. There will be plenty of time to stop and take photographs.
- On day 3, we will drive home via the Clanwilliam Dam where the area is often covered with white flowers resembling a covering of snow. Real snow is also visible on the mountains in the distance.
