Chelsea Morning Tours is a tour company with a philosophy based around responsible tourism and the utilisation of the environment in a sustainable manner.

We offer our guests private and personalised tours with flexible itineraries and time schedules. We want you to experience the essence of what makes Cape Town and South Africa a world-renowned tourist destination. We respect that each of our clients has travelled a long way to holiday in South Africa and that their expectations are to have an exceptional experience.

We mainly use luxury air-conditioned 4 x 4 vehicles for our tours. The vehicles and qualified guides are for the exclusive use of the person booking the tour. No frustrating delays waiting on other guests or going to other accommodation establishments to collect people in a mini-bus. Our groups are limited to a maximum of 4 people per vehicle/guide, depending on the tour type. If your group is larger than 4 then we use a second vehicle (or more). This means that we can offer the best personal experience to each and every client

If you wish to see areas that most tourists don’t see, then driving in a 4x4 is certainly the way to go- in other words we can drive where ordinary cars or buses cannot go. Tell us what you desire for your holiday and we will discuss with you all the options available to enable us to come up with an individual package to suit your requirements.

On the “our tours” page you can also view a number of different “recommended” tours that we offer. These could be a good starting point from where you can create your own package.

Our day packages include collection from your place of accommodation, a guided tour with a cultural guide, incar refreshments and safe delivery back to your accommodation. Our guides are qualified and certified with the Dept of Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEAT), qualified first aiders, hold professional Driving licences, and have undergone 4 x 4 vehicle training. They are well informed about all aspects of South African nature and culture. Our vehicles are all air-conditioned 4 x 4 vehicles suitable for driving in all conditions found in South Africa’s natural areas. They are all insured for passenger liability.

“I am British born but I have been fortunate to have spent most of my life in Africa. I have lived in Cape Town since 1988 so I have a wide knowledge of this beautiful city and the surrounding countryside, which I am happy to share with you.

In the past, I concentrated on a career as a professional photographer specialising in landscape, nature, architectural and aerial photography. I became very interested in 4x4 driving in order to get to those out-of-the-way places. I qualified as an advanced 4x4 driver including certificates for winching and recovery techniques as well as bush mechanics.

I am an experienced off-road sand driver as well as bush and mud driving and I have competed in many points events for 4 x 4 vehicles. I have to admit I am passionate about Land Rovers! I am also an accredited guide with the 4wd Guides Association membership No 1023 - a qualification required to drive 4 wheeled drive vehicles in eco-sensitive trails.

I am a qualified tour guide No WC 4185. I am therefore combining the tour guiding, the photography and the 4x4 experience into a complete package to show tourists and travellers alike the real South Africa and will drive to many places where normal tour operators would not venture. The cherry on the top is that I am a keen cook so I will make sure you are well fed at the restaurants or eating-places we visit along the way!”
